Office Procedures

Electrolysis

The doctor has diagnosed you with trichiasis, which is when your eyelashes grow inwards and can cause harm to your cornea.  We can treat this by using electricity to permanently remove the eyelash by stopping more from growing. To read more about what trichiasis is please click here.

Nasal Lacrimal Duct Irrigation

Too many tears? This could be due to a blockage in your nasolacrimal duct, the drainage area for your tears. We treat this by using a thin metal tool that probes deep into your lacrimal duct until it reaches the nose and then we inject a salt-water solution to make sure there is no further blockage.

Biopsy

This is a simple office procedure that will remove, depending on the amount, your chalazion or concretion. For chalazion, styes and biopsies we first put in some anesthetic drops then the doctor make a small incision in your eyelid to remove the mass that has grown. For concretion removals we first put some anesthetic drops in your eye then the doctor uses a small needle that can remove the mass that’s formed in your eyelid. To read more about chalazion and styes please click here.

Punctum Plug

Dry eyes are bothering you? We can treat this by placing a temporary plug in one of your punctums to limit the draining of tears from your eyes. This will keep your tears on the surface of your eyes for longer which will help with your dry eyes. To read more about dry eyes please click here.
